Daily Affirmations are a Good Idea

I was just thinking how I need to affirm myself! I kick myself too much, and I know it. I know I’m a good person, with a great life (and wife). I’ve been successful in my career, and as a parent. But lately I’ve gotten stuck thinking about what isn’t perfect.

Do you remember Stuart Smalley? He was a character played by Al Franken on Saturday Night Live in the early 90’s. He “hosted” a mock show called “Daily Affirmations”. His catch phrase was “I’m Good Enough, I’m Smart Enough, and Doggone It, People Like Me!”

I like that. I am good enough. I am smart enough. And yes, dog-gone it, people do like me! So while I should not be complacent, I also need to affirm myself. Today was good, even getting to have a great lunch with my wife! So yes, I am good enough everyday!
